From my Grill to yours

A little bit of food goes a long way… well not in my house but it sounded good to say!

There’s just something about BBQ’s.  It’s so nice to be surrounded by friends and family in the out doors sharing some fabulous food.

While I like to eat healthy and ensure that my children get their fill of healthy and nutritional foods we also love to enjoy the many foods that are available to us.  A good example of this is bacon.  I love me some bacon. I could have bacon with everything.  Things wrapped in bacon, bacon bits, cooked in bacon grease.

In a close second comes prosciutto, the thin, salty Italian deli meat.

I used to go to the most fantastic Italian deli in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in the Byward market.  They made fresh sandwiches filled with provolone and prosciutto every bite was tough and tasty.  It was a frequented lunch stop.

I think every BBQ needs either bacon or prosciutto.

To put a delectably tasty, if not slightly unhealthy but fabulously yummy twist on a favorite vegetable of the season, asparagus, try this recipe.

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Ingredients:

Prosciutto

Asparagus

Cream Cheese

Olive oil

To prepare:

Lightly drizzle the asaprgus with olive oil.

Spread a small layer of cream cheese on each piece of prosciutto and wrap it around 2 stalks of asparagus.

Hold together with a toothpick if necessary.

Bake in the oven at 350 for 25 minutes or even better cook it on the grill (BBQ) for 5 minutes, turning once during cooking.

Enjoy the BBQ season from our grill to yours.

  1. Yum! I’ll definitely be trying this the next time I fire up the grill. I normally do asparagus drizzled with olive oil, sea salt, and cracked peppercorn instead… but, this just sounds too delicious not to try at least once!

  2. I always dump the expired bread to the dustbin. Hm.. maybe i should try it!
